automatic...

Much of what we do is automatic. Take scratching your head for example... the initial thought to scratch the itch might feel conscious but after that the process is so complicated it's incredible! Just lifting your arm to touch your head requires coordination of dozens of muscles in fingers, hand, wrist, arm and shoulder not to mention neck, back and abdomen... if standing, the movement of lifting the arm changes centre of gravity engaging legs and balance. Muscles are made of individual fibres ... 250,000 in your bicep alone! So to scratch your head your brain is coordinating millions of muscle fibres.

Walking, sitting, standing, waving, talking... what incredibly complicated Humans we are and we take so much of this for granted.

Today I hope to be a little more appreciative.
